This week was all about Native Americans in our household.  Let me explain. The 3rd graders spend their first quarter studying Native Americans.  And the grand finale of the quarter is a week spent in actual Tepees.  Cool, right?  Well, yeah!  I mean they even get to spend a night of their choice sleeping in one with a family member.  And actually, they invite the entire family to spend the night in one.  Cool, right?!  Um….no….not really, not so much.  I’m not a fan of camping (understatement of the year) and when I am forced to do so consider it, it most definitely includes a cooler of ice cold beer and a campfire.

I promised to volunteer but really (really) did not want to camp overnight on the hard ground, freezing my ass off with out my wifi and beer and um, heat in a Tepee.  When I broke the news to her she was….well, horribly disappointed.  And my Prince Charming stepped forward and said he would take her (oh thank fucking god…I love that man!).  She was ecstatic.  Fuck, I was ecstatic.  Long story short- They froze their asses off.  The family who shared the Tepee with them snored like a grizzly bear.  PC was miserable.  SHE was miserable.  They were home by 5:30 the next morning.  With LP in earnest agreement that it wasn’t quite the ‘experience’ the school had made it out to be.  DOH.

….I’m hoping when LM makes it to 3rd grade he won’t be too terribly disappointed when we inform him no way in hell will we probably won’t be spending the night in one of those goddamn Tepees.  (((LM)))
Pffbbttt…whatever.

That’s pretty much it.  We’ve had positively *beautiful* weather this week. I hope it lasts through the weekend.

I don’t think there’s a way I do it now without that cooler of beer!

    Wonderful taste with the faves!

    Wonderful choices this week!

I’m thinking a cooler of beer might have been difficult to sneak in to the tepee, but a pint if tequila might have been doable. I cannot imagine a village of tepees filled with 3rd graders. Even if I did love one of them dearly!

Thank you sweetie! I’m flattered, as always. :)

I like camping, but I’d NEVER share a teepee/tent/cabin/ANYTHING with another family. Ew.

As for the beer…it’s a survival item. I had a cooler of it when we went camping with the boy scouts last spring. I was the calmest parent there :)

    excellent faves!

I don’t camp either, ever (well except in Co, or somewhere hunting)! People are shocked to hear that too for some reason?! Why intentionally sleep in the yard?

    Hope y’alls weekend is groovy.

That was not camping. 43 degrees is somewhat cold, even for me. We basically got there, went into the tepee and then had the other family’s kids jumping on my legs. Yay!!! They then blocked the exist out of the tepee with a kerosene heater… but never turned it on.

I am so glad I brought my noise canceling headphones. :)

Thanks for including me, I’m honored, as always. such beautiful bloggers on HNT!!

I hate hate hate camping. I don’t know how I did it as a kid with my parents every year. Oh wait yes I do know. We had an RV. That’s right. Running water, beds, no bugs. Only goddamn way to do it.

Mom and I agreed to go camping one weekend with the family in “rustic cabins”. Read: Wooden boxes with doors and windows housing bunkbeds, one light, and little else. I hated it. Sharing toilets/showers with the rest of the campground is not my idea of fun, nor is dirt, bugs and the ever-present keep-one-eye-open-for-snakes, bit.

And LOL on that tepee adventure. I *know* for a fact I wouldve done the same as you. ; ) Camping isn’t on my list of top favorite things to do : D

    Enjoy that weather *muah*
