Oh babe, I hate to go ~HNT

All my bags are packed
I’m ready to go
I’m standin here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye…..

I am going to California to visit one of my bestest girlie friends for the next four days.  I’m hand delivering her new baby to her (one of Mick and Daisy’s pups, she’s a Mini Texas Heeler).  *GRINS*  Her husband is away so it’s a girls only weekend.  I’m stoked.  But while reading a post of Barefoot Dreamer last week, something occurred to me….  The last time I went away by myself- meaning without kids and/or my spouse was twelve years ago.  That’s craziness!  And incidentally, it was to visit the same girlie friend, lol.  But it has caused all this anxiety! Which is silly, I’m a grown woman in her mid thirties (it’s mid until you hit forty, right?!).  Of course I will be fine traveling alone (ok I’ll have a puppy companion similar to dragging a baby along for the trip there) but it feels so weird to be leaving my family behind.  And *of course* they will be ok.  But I’m the MOM.  My JOB is to take care of them all.  I’ve stocked them up on groceries, written numerous lists (I’m a list maker!), done everything I could to try to ensure things go smoothly while I’m away.  Part of being OCD is that I can be a control freak when it come to my kids, animals and household.  *sigh*

Anyways.  I will do my best to make it around to see everyone.  It’s unlikely I will get a FF post up on Friday.  If I do manage though, I will let everyone know.  See you all on Monday!

    That is such a great photo. There is so much emotion in that pic and the light and shadow with the black and white just make it all the more compelling. Love it!! Happy HNT and enjoy your trip. :)

    The first picture reminds me of a postcard or a very old 1940s photo. It has a classic quality and I like it. Bummer you won’t be around this weekend, but we might still be on for next weekend ;)

    Ok … this is just fantastic. When a photo like the opening image tells a story (or stories) as strongly as this, you know you’ve painted with light and not just taken a snap (even if that’s all you did).

    I know Westcoast says it is sad, but I see it more as a brief meditation to prep for the day. Or maybe it’s shaking off the sleep from not enough sack time. And the luggage almost overlooked is perfect.

    To top it off, it has a simple sexiness that is seemingly unaffected.

    Perfect.

    Isn’t it amazing that all we want to do is get away, but when the reality hits us we suddenly wonder if we can actually do it.

    I leave Sunday for one night away from my house and family and I’m feeling the same way. Moms need to take breaks more often, but we just don’t. Safe travels and as always, beautiful pics. =)

    wow that first picture is quite powerfull. the click through however different sort of power… oooOOOooo.

    Why are you apologizing about a bruise? Its not like a Freddi Curger gaping fleshwound that might have some people returning their lunch. Its not even noticeable given the rest of the composition. I had to go back twice to see what what you were referring to.

    I would ask where in California but I suspect that is bad form. I have lived all over California at one time or another is the reason for my curiosity.
