13 Messages….. He said this was his favorite part of his wedding vows. The love he portrays on a daily basis for his wife make his blog one of the most endearing ones I visit. *happy sigh*
Emmy…Right Turn Without Signaling….. I LOVE her blog. I have no idea why I only recently discovered it. But then she throws in an HNT like this and *DAMN* people! (psst….her husband has a blog too, and oh, he has *more* pics of his oh-so-hot-wife)
Bad Bad Girl….. I’m becoming envious of her lingerie collection bc it rocks. And if I may say so, she looks hot……. Hey, there are like at least 4 different angles, I guarantee you want to check them all out.
Sweet Elle….. Yeah, she’s new to HNT and you’d think she took classes or something on it, bc she’s rockin’ it in a serious way.

Well. I’m still laid up. The good news is as long as my foot is bandaged (with hot pink VetWrap decorated with purple hearts thankyouverymuch) I am walking a bit better. That’s a bonus. I don’t see any triathlons in my near future (especially considering I am still hobbling up and down the hill to/from the barn, this is probably my biggest daily challenges) but it’s slowly getting better…..
I had a minor tissy fit this past week about how HARD 1st grade is and the totally unrealistic expectations LM’s teacher is putting on him/the class. There seems to have been a major disconnect bwtn the Kindergarten teacher and the 1st grade teacher(s). It seems to me when a child and his parent are spending almost two hours a night ‘studying’ (in tears no less…his, not mine) that there is a slight problem with the curriculum. Just sayin…. I did manage to reign in my mama bear instincts (and get PC to reel in his papa bear ones after I got *him* worked up over my concerns) and have decided to take a ‘wait and see’ approach until this week is over. I think it’s in everyone’s best interest if I don’t jump to conclusions and come flying in being ‘that mom’ with out seeing the full picture first. Bc I mean, I’m NOT ‘that mom’, I’ve never been. But at the same time, fuck if I’m going to stand by and watch our son become so frustrated he wants to give up. Anyway…. I’ll keep you posted. Next week could become quite interesting.
On another note entirely. You must *KNOW* how much I love Megan Fox. (right?!?!?!) Have you seen the previews for Jennifer’s Body?

Um. Really? So part of me is quite incredulous that she would choose a role like this for herself (???). And another part thinks for her to have, means it *must* be better than it seems bc it looks really stupid. But as PC pointed out, of course, I’ll want to see it. Bc it’s HER. (lol)

RE: homework thing: Check to see if your district has policies dictating what in an appropriate amount of homework each night. Most do. The one my husband teaches at say 15 minutes x grade level – with means a first grader would get 30min per night max. If it is exceeding that, it is inappropriate for that age. (Sorry, married to a teacher who has had to contend with this one with his peers.) But, you mama bear instincts are dead-on with this one.

Emmy- thanks for the info. We knew he would struggle a bit going into this year as he is a bit behind. So I was prepared to have to work harder with him than most other 1st graders would have to. (he’s learning a spelling list) I just didn’t expect it to be quite *this* hard.
I’m def going to meet with his teacher next week to discuss my concerns with her.

As far as your little boy goes, that DOES seem excessive for homework to me… I hated having to take the 15 minutes to read with him everyday!

Elle- I should clarify. It’s a long list of spelling words that he is supposed to learn how to read and spell. I think the list is too long and he is struggling quite a bit, so in order to learn them that is the time we are putting in. And that I think is excessive.

Thanks so much for the feature above. Just last night my wife and I were talking about bloggers we like and she mentioned you right away. I only recently discovered Emmy and Garbanzo myself. They’re wonderful. The best part of finding a blog late is spending time catching up.
