Holy snow people! We officially got our first snow storm this week. And sadly, you would think we lived in California. OH NO…it’s snowing!!!!! Heaven forbid, DON’T leave your house but if you do, by all means drive like shit. And while we’re at it, let’s CANCEL all the schools. *rolling eyes* Seriously people. It’s SNOW.
The very best part of my week though was when although our schools were not canceled (yes, we were one of three districts NOT canceled), they did cancel parent/teacher conferences. BUT didn’t bother to tell any of the parents. Oh. Wait. They did. By sending home a ‘note’ with the children. That’s a great plan for the parents who had conferences the next day. NOT so much for the parents who’s times were scheduled immediately after school. See, MY kids didn’t get home until over an HOUR after I had already left FOR the p/t conferences. Imagine my surprise to show up *on time* for the conferences to only find out that everyone had already left. Hmm…. I was a teeeensy tiiiinsy bit furious upset. The cancellation of these conferences was VERY poorly handled. I so will be taking this up with the principal (whom I already wasn’t all that fond of in the first place…add this to the list of things I don’t like about her).
*grumble, grumble*
Tomorrow is HALLOWEEN. *SQUEAL* This is my absolute favoritest holiday of the year (if you hadn’t picked up on that already, hehe…). Sadly, we will not be going to the totally fun, sexy, awesome Exotic Ball we usually go to due to the stupidity of the radio station who hosts it. BOO!! *pout* (I’m still fuming about that one) BUT we are going out ON Halloween instead (which is how it should be, you know?!). My sister, PC and I have totally awesome costumes planned. (which will be revealed soon, I promise…:::wink:::…)

Man, I miss the snow. Although its nice and cool here this AM.
One of the things I have seen throughout my life is how people just do not have forward thinking. They certainly don’t take into consideration other people’s time…Its just a shame. Although you may think it a minor thing, I feel bad that you had gotten hassled this way in regards to the parent/teacher thing….

That Principal sounds like an uber-dolt. And it’s totally wussified to cancel School because of a little snow. They NEVER cancel for snow days here.

Ooo do you usually go to *that* ball? I haven’t yet but I have always wanted to!!! Next year for sure – maybe we’ll actually meet in the flesh. Anyways, have a fun Halloween – my favorite holiday too!

Temptress- YES. That’s the one. It’s the best one in the state by far. We *always* go to it. But this year they decided to have it on Friday night. We had made plans month ago to go out on Saturday night- HALLOWEEN NIGHT. There was no way we could change our plans or go out both nights. *sigh*
I think it’s STUPID they decided to have it on Friday night.
Anyway, yes, next year you should DEF try to go to it!!! :)

We just made a snowman. Had to get it done before everything melts.

Sorry about your conferences. If you do talk to the school and want to suggest something that may prevent the same thing from happening in the future, here’s the system we use:

Each parent and faculty/staff member registers. You can choose if you want an email, text, phone call home (or all three). Our school uses it for snow day notifications, and they use it to automatically call home if a student is absent. It’s pretty cool.

I am not looking forward to the snow. It was so cold here I thought for sure we were going to get some. Brrr. Luckily though, there are beautiful HNTs here to keep us all warm!

No snow here yet… Well a few flakes fell once or twice, but nothing that stayed. Some of the trees even still have pretty colored leaves. The park next door is especially beautiful and I love the few minutes of relaxation it gives me every night when I come home from work, just before I step in the house :)
