• Saw a very funny and cute movie (Old Dogs).
• Ate dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory (YUM!)
• Wearing my new favorite dress, knee high socks and awesome boots. (grins)
• Daughter come down with the stomach flu middle of the night.
• Child puking all night= mom up with child puking all night (sigh).
• Oh. so. tired.
• Husband is sick too.
• Bought my first Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal from McD’s.
• Ha!  SO TOTALLY not for myself.  What sick husband wants, sick husband gets. (Hey! I don’t completely suck)
• Was worried what the lady in the drive thru would think of me.  That’s pathetic, isn’t it? Do meat eaters judge people like that.  (do they????)
• Sick child’s cat (that she love, love, loves) has been missing for several days. 
• Child is heartbroken. 
• Parents are heartbroken for her.
• Parents do the most sensible thing….
• Buy child a puppy.
• (shut up)
• Vixen breaks down and asks husband to buy her a …*choke*…  artificial tree. (I will miss a freshly cut tree, but not the hassles associated with it… OCD people want to do things when they want to do them.  Damnit.)
• Tree is beautiful.  Decorated.  And oh-so-pretty.
• Male child is grumpy. disruptive. loud. grumpy. pouty. grumpy….
• The. entire. weekend. (groan)
• Daughters cat shows up.  Fine. 
• New puppy is teeny, tiny.  So, um.  It doesn’t count.  Right?
• (shut up)
• Yay….it’s Monday.

I’ve seen this one around and have kept it for safe keeping, not sure if I would have time for it. Now seems as good of time as any.

1. Are you sticking to traditional Thanksgiving foods this year, or are you being culinarily adventurous?
My BIL does/did the majority of the cooking.  He’s a *fantastic* from scratch cook.  But alas…a meat eater.  As is my entire family but me.  Over the years he has become very accommodating of quirky little me and this year even made vegetarian stuffing.  Awww….  *grins*  I brought the green beans and homemade mac/cheese.  (a vegetarian like me has to ensure herself something to eat!) AND….my sister researched/made all vegetarian pre-dinner yumminess.  I *heart* my family.

2. Tell me something concrete that you’re thankful for. (Something you can literally touch, see, etc., not a concept like “hope.”)
Family, my sister who I am able to vent/confide/support/reach out to on a daily basis, my husband who knows me better than myself (thank god bc when you are as neurotic as I am it helps to have *someone* know you! LOL), my children to which I would sacrifice everything for, my furbabies that enrich my every waking moment, my bestest friend Roxy and my home, as dilapitated as it is, I love having a place to call home.

3. You knew the flip side was coming: Share about something intangible that you’re thankful for.
Happiness.  After going many, many years quite unhappy with such a feeling of hopelessness, I relish in *HAPPY*.

4. Share one vivid Thanksgiving memory. It doesn’t have to be deep or meaningful, just something that remains etched in your memory.
Oh.  Um.  I was forced to remember this when my sisters entire family (but her) became severely ill with a nasty stomach virus this past week right. before. TGing.  This was numerous years ago…. I had a new mommy-van, a preschooler and a toddler….enter a sudden onset of a stomach virus that began IN the mommy-van (I swear one of the main reasons I got rid of it several months later was BC of the nasty ass smell I couldn’t remove from the fucking thing), carrying through with most all the adults coming down with it ON TGing day…..  Ah, the memories. (puke.  literally.)

5. What is one thing that you know beyond a shadow of a doubt is going to happen this Thanksgiving because it always does, year after year?
I won’t eat the Turkey.  ~wink~

6. Do your pets get any left-overs?
Sneeked, a bit yes. Or the ‘accidental’ dropping of food….happens from time to time.  My dogs are ‘polite beggers’ as I refer to them.  *LOL*

7. Does your family pray before the big meal? If so, do you join hands while seated, stand, repeat a formal prayer or offer a spontaneous prayer? Who does the praying?
Not these days…  I did find it HORRIBLY cute when the kids (completely on their own) went around their little table telling what they were thankful for.  LM, all too predictably, said “costumes” (while wearing his Orvill Redinbocker outfit- no shittin you).  *snort*

8. Will you be watching football in the afternoon? If not, what will you be doing?
Blech.  Not me.  I’ll be enjoying cocktails and bullshitting.

9. There are two distinct camps of people on this issue: How do you feel about oysters in the dressing/stuffing?
Um…there are?!?!  I’ve never even heard of oysters in stuffing.  In our family there is the ‘stuffing with sausage’ and ‘stuffing with none’.  I’m sure you can guess which I prefer.  And which my family prefers. Doh.

10. Do you consider yourself informed about the first Thanksgiving?
More so than the dumbass that PC had to delete from his FB friends list TGing day……

11. Which variety of pie will you be enjoying?
PUMPKIN with Cool Whip.  No other time of the year.  And I would never buy it or make it. But when it’s offered this one time of year…it’s *yummy*.

12. Do you feel for the turkey??
I have no idea what this means.  And the very thought grosses me out if we are talking about “actual” Turkey.

Awesome day spent with my family at my sisters house.  My BIL is an excellent cook and over the years has even adapted some of his recipes to accommodate a vegetarian like me.  The weather was *beautiful*, we spent the day dranking Brazilian rum, eating yummy food and had a great day together.  I ate too much.  Drank too much and this is all I have in me for a post.

NO shopping for me on Black Friday.  I have done that *once* in my life time and it was enough to make me know I never, ever want to do that again.  Stay safe and have a great Friday!

DISCLAIMER: 
I’ve brought up smoking before. I think it’s a disgustingly gross, stinky, unhealthy habit that effects not just the person choosing to participate in it, but also those around them. Society has changed, times have changed. What was once considered ‘cool’ and ‘in’ is now looked down upon by many, most establishments (in my state anyway) prohibit smoking inside and with in a certain distance outside of them.  I’m not looking to debate smoking or legalities/rights.  The last time I brought up smoking here I got into a pissing match with someone over the U.S’s ‘need’ for tobacco.  It doesn’t matter to me.  I choose not to smoke.  I choose not to date people who smoke.  I’ll do everything in my power to impress upon my children not to start.  I love, love, love that restaurants and bars prohibit smoking inside.  BUT those who continue to still smoke, it’s a whatever to me.  More power to you.  My sister (and best friend) smokes.  I wish she wouldn’t.  I worry for her long term health.  She knows how I feel, there is no need to harp on her or make her feel badly about it.  My sister is a very polite smoker.  I love that about her.

Now again, the main reason I bring all this up is *NOT* to debate smoking but rather a logistic in regards to it.  I have friends who just bought a house together, up until this point they have shared an apartment together.  Joe smokes.  Trina does not.  Trina doesn’t love that Joe smokes, they have discussed that someday she would like him to quit, he agrees that he would like to at some point.  She’s not riding him to quit *right now*.  But here is the thing.  She doesn’t want him to smoke in their new house.  He thinks he should be allowed to smoke wherever he wants in their new house.  That it’s the one and only place he can sit comfortably and do it….  as a smoker he has NO WHERE to smoke anymore, no place he’s able to enjoy a cigarette with out having to freeze his ass off outside.  He wants to be able to sit back on his couch, watch tv and enjoy a cigarette when he feels like it. 

Her point is their entire house is going to reek of smoke.  That buying this house is an investment and if they ever wanted to sell it in the future it would be more difficult bc of the smoke.  Now to clarify, Trina is not asking Joe to quit, only that he not smoke inside their home.  I guess I’m a bit ignorant in this matter bc it didn’t even occur to me that people still DID smoke in their houses.  Every smoker I know does so OUTSIDE.  My sister goes outside to smoke.  She always has.  Even pre-children and when her husband smoked as well (he quit a number of years back) they both went outside to smoke.  Rain, snow, sleet, bitter cold temps…..always outside.  Smoke permeates EVERYTHING it comes in contact with…the walls, the carpet, the furniture, drapery……

This has become a really big deal for the two of them.  Neither is wanting to back down on this.  I’m really interested in what others have to say on this.  I’d like to hear from smokers as well as non-smokers.

I’ve been perusing the CL ads (in my super fun not-being-able-to-sleep-insomnia-state not to be confused with my narcoleptic-so-tired-I-want-to-cry-state). Of my two bestest girly friends, the one who lives near me is *ahem* verynotinterested in the lesbian/bi dating scene and the one who is, lives too fucking far away (grumble grumble) so the club scene is out, even though we have a kick ass club downtown. Which sucks for me. And no, CL is not really my scene but I do enjoy reading some of the ads. For the enjoyment factor. ~wink~

*There is the girl who is married with kids (my interest perks) looking for someone who likes to work out, go to movies and out for drinks. Also must be confident in your sexuality. Ooo…. Check on all accounts. BUT. She is only interested in someone who is able to work out mid afternoons and mornings on a weekend. Eww. You lost me at the point I felt as if I was being ‘hired’ to be her spotter to work out.

*Or the girl who wants to sit in front of the fire sipping wine and chatting. Oh. Doesn’t sound too bad. ….until she mentions that she lives alone with her cats. Really???? You felt it so completely neccessary to mention you are the cat lady in your one line ad?!?!

*You know and there is always the girl who wants to meet and shower together at 24 hour fitness.  That sounds scary and distrubring promising.

*I also decided to pass up “StudBoi” who isn’t into emailing or texting, only wants to meet in person….as long as you aren’t black with a weave or wig (yes, she actually says that).

*Of course my all time favorite is the girl who can’t spell. That’s my favoritest…… Nothing makes me swoon like- “Im not lukin for luv jus sum play time and maybe cuddle and watch a movie sumtime…still learnin (to read and write perhaps???) and wud like to learn wit u…. i am bi and open for more but i want 1 on 1 wit u for the 1st few times please… i prefer women ova men but its more of a trust thing than nething…”

Mmm yeah. Pass.

In other news.  We went to see The Blind Side.  First off…HOLY CROWDS. And I’m not even talking about the New Moon crowds! (those are an experience of itself!)  Excellent movie.  It did NOT dissappoint.  Such a touching, feel good movie.  And after that shit movie I took the kids to last week, I deserved a good one! (lol)

I can be short tempered and irritable.  A couple days a month I, we, can expect me to become this bitchy, irrational, crazy person.  And when that passes we all breath a deep sigh of relief.  Because no one, including ME, likes that girl very much.

I’ve been feeling sad (duh).  And needy.  And tired.  Oh. my. god. TIRED…….

And….not myself.

I’m needing to re-discover my groove.  Figure out where it went.  I’m getting there.  Working on it.  But fuck…it’s difficult some days.  Sometimes.

I had to make an extremely difficult decision this week.  It’s made for an emotionally trying week…from making the initial decision and deciding it was the right thing to do, to following through with it. I know we did what was best for her.  But it doesn’t make it any easier.  Aleka lived a long, happy life.  She was exceptionally well behaved, tried to please all- never rocked the boat, wanted everyone to love her ….a very kind and sweet girl.  I remember last year near this time, she wasn’t doing well, we were afraid she wouldn’t make it through Christmas.  And miraculously she pepped up and got her second wind.  She was a tough girl.  But recently it’s become increasingly evident that she wasn’t doing well.  It’s such a tough call…knowing when her quality of life and happiness is still in tact and when it’s ‘time’.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content…..

Rest in Peace Aleka…..
