Per my Saturday post, professing my intense new love for Mimi Holliday lingerie …:::sigh:::…. I’ve decided to take donations and/or presents for Christmas, consider it a Secret Santa sort of thing. Send all pretty lingerie with bows in size XS and 32C to…. *ahem* KIDDING. But um, thanks for encouraging my obsession (lol).

Warning, rant ahead-
So I took the kiddos to see Where the Wild Things Are this weekend. It is an *adored* book in our family, one of our most favorites. I grew up loving this book. When we saw it was coming out as a movie they made me promise that I would take them. SURE THING! I finally had the opportunity this weekend. And…. *GROAN* Wow do I wished we had missed it. We so completely did NOT love that movie. Like, at. all. 5min into it I knew I was going to hate it and wanted to leave. The little BRAT of a child was horrible to his mom, who was a really good single mom, doing her best for her kids. The Wild Things were shitty to each other and totally dysfunctional. You kind of thought as the movie progressed they would work it out, things would become better. (Isn’t that how it happens in movies???) But no. That is not what happened. The boy returns home (from his ridiculous adventure, after running away from home bc he was HORRIBLE to his mother and BIT her) and she greets him lovingly with a huge piece of Chocolate Cake. Awww….. That’s totally the message I want to send my children! …..act like a total out of control, awful brat and you will be rewarded with chocolate cake. YUM!!! Yay!!! [insert sarcasm]
*shaking head*
God it was awful and depressing! I had to have a a talk with the kids afterward about the message it sent and what I didn’t like about it. THEY couldn’t believe how horrid he was to his mom. And how scary and not nice to each other the Wild Things were. I mean.
At one point when one of the Wild Things realizes Max isn’t a king, he asks him- “Well if you aren’t king what are you then?”
Max- “I’m just Max”
The Wild Thing- “Well that isn’t much, is it?”
Scene over.
Um, WTF!?!?
Boo. Six thumbs down from us.

Besides the shitty movie, we had a quiet (and snowy) but good weekend.
Happy Monday!!!

I have heard similar reviews of the movie and decided I didn’t want to see it and ruin my oh-so-fond memories of the book.
Mean movie makers …

I am in love with your picture collage – are you framing it? It would be perfect in your bedroom.
thanks for the movie review – I will wait for the rental so we can turn it off if need be.
love starting my day with you.

Just a wonderful collage. Fur-babies, human-babies, and friends. Great stuff that’s inspired me to try originals next week for “local”.
Happy Mute Monday!

Thanks for the review, we were thinking of taking the kids to the movie this weekend and had read some other reviews that indicated there were temper issues with the characters. After your review we will give it a miss.

That is what happens with most movies made from books, except Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. That was a horrible book but an all right movie.
And I love that final picture, very sexy.
Thanks!!

dude. I wanna come hang out and play with you.
Happy MM!
And on another note: I saw Where the Wild Things Are, and hated it. It was nothing like the book I remember as a kid. I left feeling somber and depressed. It was a movie about being angry and distructive. blech. I wanted my money back.
