Oooo New Years Eve…..ok ok it’s not Halloween *smirk*  BUT it is one of my other favorite nights of the year.  And and and…it’s on a FRIDAY night!  Mmmhmm!  Rockin’ slip dress (think short, sexy….somewhat see through), smokin’ hot 5″ heels (for me sillies, not PC), add reservations at my favorite restaurant including a 5 course dinner and a glass of wine…ok, right, you have me, glasses of wine.  Shit ok, a bottle.  Sheesh, this is me we’re talking about…hello!

Good times my friends….

We had a totally fabulous New Years Eve.  PC and I went downtown with some friends.  We began the night with dinner at Bubba Gumps (the only place that didn’t require reservations two months earlier, lol).

Funny story.  PC and his friend decide to check their jackets half way through the night (us girls had checked our coats when we first got to the club).  The coat check girl *totally* thought they were a couple, when they got back they looked at their claim ticket and……  *giggle*

Midnight.  Happy New Years!!!

There was a couple near us COMPLETELY going at it, as in any minute we figured they’d be fucking next to us.  I know I’ve gotten hot and heavy in a club before, but I’m pretty sure I’ve never been quite as oblivious as this couple.  But you know, what the hell ever, good for them.

Ack.  So in other news.  I de-Christmasted our house this wkend.  While carrying Christmas boxes into the basement I somehow managed to get my navel ring jammed into the hinge of a plastic box I was carrying and almost completely ripped my piercing out.

Um.  It hurt.  A whole fucking lot.  It’s too early to assess the damage but I do know this-

1. It hurts like hell.
2. Besides the two times I’ve taken it out when I was super duper pregnant, I haven’t seen my ‘normal’ belly w/o jewlery in over 15 years.
3. I HATE the way my stomach/belly button looks w/o the pretty peircing/jewelry.

Stupid shit like this only happens to me.  I swear.

I know everyone else with kids is sending them back to school today.  We have almost two more weeks with our kids off.  Oh yea…. Fun times here. Doh.

Last weeks TMI asked about resolutions.  And most everyone responded that they don’t make them.  And their reasons behind *not* doing them were great. I loved reading everyone’s answers to that question.  But Biscuit put it the very best I thought….

“Why is one day of the year any different than another? If you need to kick a bad habit, why should you wait for a special day to come around before you get started? The majority of New Year’s resolutions are made without any real consideration for what it would take to be successful. They are made on a whim, out of habit or under pressure, and bound to fail.”

That Biscuit’s not only hot, but she’s a smart one. ~wink~  I personally have never made resolutions.  I’m with Biscuit, if I’m going to accomplish something or make a change in my life, I’ll just set the goal to do it.

Last year I read an article in Glamour regarding one man’s New Year’s resolution.  It was based on the premise that “The best resolutions are about doing something positive, instead of giving up something negative”.  This man and his wife had celebrated the birth of their first child nine months earlier and sex life had taken a hiatus.  His wife suggested they make a New Years resolution…to have sex every day.  And the article/story goes on to document their sex life for the next two months.  The idea is interesting.  Intriguing.  And I have to admit, kind of hot.  No???  Hmm….

Another cute one, is the commercial from chemistry.com.  The girl says “I vow to never wear a flannel nightgown” and her guy responds with a flirty smile… “How about you vow to never wear a nightgown”.  Super cute.  ~grins~

So.  Could you be willing to make a resolution like that? Have you made any sexual/relationship type resolutions?  Just for fun?  To be flirty?

“Wolf ‘hybrids’ are a cross between a Wolf and a domestic dog.
However, in 1992, scientists reclassified dogs and Wolves as the same
species making the term “hybrid” obsolete. Wolf content, the number of
generations removed from a pure Wolf and the type of dog used in each
cross must be considered when defining a Wolfdog. Because of random
genetics inherited from both the dog and the Wolf, the looks and/or
behavior can vary.”

I ran a wolf hybrid rescue for over ten years, beginning in ’93.  Mainly we took in unwanted wolves and wolf hybrids.  At one point we were housing over 25 wolves and wolf hybrids.  I couldn’t tell you the total number we cared for over the years.  Uneducated people who thought it would be ‘cool’ to have a REAL LIFE WOLF <<insert sarcasm>>, would bring them into their lives thinking they were ‘dogs’ that looked like wolves.  Not realizing that these animals are *not* like puppies or dogs.  While a ‘puppy’ may eat an occasional shoe, a wolf hybrid cub will eat your couch.  They require an incredible amount of socialization and time and love.  And with out these things they can become destructive, out of control, afraid, sometimes aggressive, a menace to their caretakers and society.  And these same people panic and want to get rid of these beautiful creatures as soon as they possibly can.  They developed a bad reputation in the ’90s.  Shelters would take them in only to euthanize them immediately with out ever giving them a second chance.  People were turning them loose bc they couldn’t keep them but nor could they find homes for them.  So we took them in.  Helped other wolf hybrid rescues both in and out of the state.  I helped with an education program in our state…to help educate the general public as well as legislation that was trying to pass very unfair and rigid laws against these incredible, helpless animals.  I also wrote articles for a Wolf Education periodical.

I was able to place a few of them in new homes with people who understood them and loved them.  But most of them remained with me.  They are *marvelous* animals with breathtaking beauty and an intelligence that is awe-inspiring. The era of ‘wolf popularity’ has died down, which is IMO, for the best.  It takes a special and committed person to bring one of these animals into your life.  They are truly life partners to the right person/home.  Over the years, the wolves I had taken in have passed away and my last wolf is an old girl now, 13 years (Aleka).  She has little control of her back hips and legs but has an amazing amount of spunk and despite her aged appearance, continues to have quality of life.  I will be very sad to see her go when her time comes.

Kiddos go back to school.  I can honestly say I am a bit saddened to have them go back.  The two week break that I was actually kind of dreading a bit, flew by and I’m now a bit melancholy to have it end.  I think the realization that the Holidays are over now is making me a bit melancholy as well. I really do love them.  The other thing I have loved about the little break is the lazy
mornings of waking up when the kids and I rolled out of bed, enjoying
my coffee and MacBook with out having to watch the clock….  *sigh*

But I suppose now I have Spring to look forward to and we all know how much I *LOOOOOOVE* Spring! (Which brings us a step closer to SUMMER, lol) 

Ok something GOOD about January is a bunch of totally kick ass shows come back! LOST!!!  The L Word!!!  Nip/Tuck!!!

Oh well.  Back to the grind.
